Summer Programming Leaders and Assistants

Looking for a great summer position that is full of fun? Come and join our RMS team for the summer! We're looking for fun, energetic leaders who have a passion for safe summer fun. With 15 acres to use, we have room to spread out and enjoy the sunshine.  The classroom leader and assistant positions create fun and exciting daily activities while guiding the social development of children in a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment.  Positions are available working with ages 2 - 12 years old in the following Summer programs: Toddlers, Children's House Montessori, Children's House Themed, Elementary 1 week program, and Elementary 2 week program.  Availability between 7:30-5:30 is required. Our summer programs run Monday through Friday, beginning June 13th to August 12th.  Applicants are not required to be available for all 9 weeks but will be asked to submit availability for 6/13/22-8/12/22. Accountant - Part-Time

Join our growing school and work with a dynamic team of educators. We are looking for an Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. Accountant responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements, and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes. Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity, and cash flows, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations. Position includes paid time off and a staff discount on tuition.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Typical days and hours of work are 20-30 hours power week  Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed but the employee is expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and attend all administrative meetings, staff meetings, and finance committee meetings.

Required Education and Experience

  • College degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited college
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of Accrual Accounting Practices

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.

 

Substitutes and Support Staff

RMS has immediate openings to expand our on-call Substitute and Support Staff pool for our Toddler, Children's House, and Elementary classrooms.  Ideal candidates will have a schedule that allows for flexibility between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:30 pm and feel comfortable leading a classroom or group.  At least two years of college credits toward an education-related degree is preferred. Guide Positions

Rochester Montessori School is always seeking qualified Guides (lead teachers) who are excited to work collaboratively within a classroom team. As the lead guide, this position applies their expertise to create, inspire, and direct learning to meet the needs of children individually.    This position is responsible for preparing an environment that is suitable for the children within the classroom community.  Guides are used at all program levels: Toddler, Children's House, Elementary, and the Middle Years Program.    

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications for the applicable classroom level:
    • Montessori certification from an accredited organization (AMS, AMI, MACTE, etc) or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or similar) and a desire to complete a Montessori diploma; or
    • Experience in an IB Accredited Program
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with diverse students and families
  • A passion for supporting children's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in a Montessori toddler community preferred
  • Ability to analyze student behavior and apply appropriate intervention
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills, ability to multi-task, and self-initiative required

 

Classroom Assistants 

RMS is always seeking enthusiastic classroom Assistants to help provide a warm and nurturing environment under the direction of the Guide (lead teacher.)  Position works cohesively with the Guide and duties range from organizing materials to guiding the children through self-directed activities. Under the Guide’s discretion, the assistant will assist in the overall use of assessment tools/strategies to help make instructional decisions, complete/maintain records and/or reports and participate in activities that nurture a productive learning environment. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; two years of college coursework in education preferred
  • Experience working in a Montessori classroom environment preferred
  • Experience working with diverse students and families
  • A passion for supporting children's cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze student behavior and apply appropriate intervention
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and self-initiative required

ABOUT ROCHESTER MONTESSORI SCHOOL

RMS is a private school that has educated children for over 50 years starting in a private home in 1968 with only 12 children. Today, the school serves more than 200 children at its dedicated, 15-acre campus where a complete Montessori education is offered for children from 18 months through the eighth grade. For students in grades 6, 7, and 8, RMS is both a Montessori School and an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
