Montessori Guide - Elementary

RMS has an immediate opening for an Elementary Guide.   As the lead guide, expertise is applied to create, inspire and direct learning to meet the needs of children in a multi-age environment.   This position is supported by an assistant and works closely with families to ensure that they experience what is possible from an authentic Montessori education.This position works closely with families to ensure they experience what is possible from an authentic Montessori education. 

Qualifications

  • Montessori certification from an accredited organization (AMS, AMI, MACTE, etc) or a Bachelor's Degree in Education (or similar) and a desire to pursue a Montessori diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with diverse students and families
  • A passion for supporting children's cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in an elementary community required
  • Ability to analyze student behavior and apply appropriate intervention
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills, ability to multi-task and self-initiative required

 

Montessori Assistant 

RMS is seeking an enthusiastic Lower Elementary Assistant (1st-3rd grade) to help provide a warm and nurturing environment under the direction of the lead teacher.  Position works cohesively with the lead teacher and duties range from organizing materials to guiding the children through self-directed activities.   Under the teacher’s discretion, the assistant will assist in the overall use of assessment tools/strategies to help make instructional decisions, complete/maintain records and/or reports and participate in activities that nurture a productive learning environment. 

Qualifications:

  • High-school diploma required; two years of college coursework in early childhood education preferred
  • Experience working with diverse students and families
  • A passion for supporting children's cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze student behavior and apply appropriate intervention
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and self-initiative required

 

Physical Education Guide

RMS has an immediate opening for a Physical Education Guide to teach elementary through 8th grade.  This positon is responsible for providing students with engaging learning experiences related to health and physical education including individual and team sports. The learning environment shall promote regular physical activity that supports growth and development and also encourages daily activity and a lifelong commitment to health and physical fitness. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or a related field strongly desired
  • Effective planning and class management skills
  • Strong communication and listening skills

ABOUT ROCHESTER MONTESSORI SCHOOL

RMS is a private school that has educated children for over 50 years starting in a private home in 1968 with only 12 children. Today, the school serves more than 200 children at its dedicated, 15-acre campus where a complete Montessori education is offered for children from 18 months through the eighth grade. For students in grades 6, 7, and 8, RMS is both a Montessori School and an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The growth and success of RMS could not have happened without our highly qualified staff and the support of our community.
