Clarisse Colin-Hoag, Birches Guide

Clarisse started her Montessori journey in 1999 as an assistant and a French Specialist. She completed her Montessori Training in 2011 and graduated with a Montessori Credential from the Center for Guided Montessori Studies.  She has also offered French as an after school studio.  Clarisse took a position as a primary guide in Ventura, California, for one year and returned to RMS in September, 2015 as a guide in the Cypress classroom.

Laura Lawson, Birches Assistant

Laura has been a Montessori Assistant since 2003. She earned her Montessori Assistant Credential from the Montessori Training Center of MN. She attended Rochester Community and Technical College where she had training in Child Development and earned an endorsement in TMA/NA. She also worked as a special education paraprofessional for 2 years.

Trisha Roeker, Cypress Guide

Trisha attended RCTC to complete a degree in Childhood development and began working at RMS as an assistant in 2014. Soon realizing she’d found a place to call home, Trisha began her Montessori Children’s House Guide training at the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. She graduated in 2016 when she became and still remains a Guide in the Cypress classroom. Trisha has two children, both currently enrolled at RMS. “The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own desires to learn” -Maria Montessori

Tina Xie, Cypress Assistant

Tina, whose real name is Tieying, comes to us from China where she earned an Environmental Engineering degree and was a project manager and senior Engineer for 12 years. In 2011 she received a Certificate of Teaching English as a Foreign Language from BRIDGETEFL and trained with CGMS for Classroom Leadership, Adventures in Art, and Observation from 2012 through 2014. Tina has taught Chinese language classes in Rochester for over a decade and tutors all ages from preschoolers to adults. She has been at RMS since 2006 teaching Chinese in the after school studio programs.  In addition to her position as an Assistant, she also provides before and after school care and fills a substitute role when needed.

Brianna Stenzel, Cypress Assistant

Brianna started with RMS in 2020. She was raised in Byron, partook in post-secondary education with RCTC, and pursued degrees at Winona State University. Brianna studied abroad to complete her student teaching in New Zealand and Indiana. In the years following she has been a lead teacher in child care settings, predominantly working with 3-4 year olds.

Kelly Shinn, Apsen Guide

Kelly is a native Pennsylvanian who received her Montessori Primary training from Santa Monica Montessori Institute in California. She has taught in Montessori classrooms in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania before relocating to Minnesota. In addition to her Montessori training, she holds a bachelor degree in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory.  She taught early childhood music for 11 years with Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children and performed internationally with the Pennsylvania based Susquehanna Chorale.

Michelle Ebnet, Redwoods Guide

Michelle has worked as a child educator since 1997 and a Montessori Children's House Guide since 2003. She maintains a Minnesota Teaching license, earned an AMS Children's House Montessori Credential from the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs at the college of St. Catherine's, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Middle School Science and Social Studies from Winona State University and an Early Childhood Certification from Mid-State Technical College, WI.

Nikki Brown, Redwoods Guide

Nikki began teaching at RMS in 1999. She received her training from The Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs at the University of St. Catherine.  Nikki also has an Associates Degree in Human Services from the Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota.

Kate Faruolo, Willows Guide

Kate received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with concentration on Early Childhood Education from Purdue University in 1972.  She went on to earn her AMS Primary Credential from the Twin Cities Montessori Training Center in 1974.  She has also earned the Orton-Guillingham Certification from the Reading Center Dyslexia Institute of Minnesota.  Kate began her Montessori teaching career in Fargo, ND, and has been a Children's House guide at Rochester Montessori School since 1996.

Sarah Streyle, Willows Guide

Sarah joined RMS in 2012. She previously taught in the Rochester Public Schools as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher. She earned a BA in Art from North Park University in Chicago in 2002 and a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Winona State University in Winona, MN in 2008. In 2021, she completed her MA from St. Catherine University. She maintains MN teaching licenses in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood Special Education.  Sarah has also earned her Montessori credential for the primary level through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies.

Niniek Pranato, Willows Assistant

Niniek was a substitute in 2003 with the Rochester Montessori School before attending training to become a Montessoril assistant.  Before joining RMS, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Trisakti University in Jakarta Indonesia.  She has also graduated from the Rochester Community and Technical College with her Associate Degree and certification in Child Development.
