Elementary 2 Staff

Sarah Buhmann, E2 East Guide

Sarah has been teaching since 1998, and although she also has a Masters in Education, most of that time has been in Montessori settings, both private and public. In addition to teaching, Sarah enjoys writing and publishing creative works. She has also professionally edited books for other authors. In addition to writing, Sarah loves teaching math, history, and science, often in combination with each other. Although it is important to teach certain skills in isolation, she believes that it is essential for upper elementary students to begin to see the connections between subjects. This will help them understand the importance of what they are learning. Guiding students toward making connections is something Sarah thoroughly enjoys.

Rosalee Mickelberg, E2 Guide

Rosalee graduated from Winona State University with her Elementary Education Degree certified to teach KG-6th grade and has a Minnesota teaching license. The last two years of Rosalee’s college education were spent immersed in many different aged classrooms in Rochester and Byron Public Schools. Prior to completing college, she spent much of her free time working as a volunteer in special education classrooms in Rochester. She was also a dance coach and instructor for the Plainview Elgin Millville Dance Team. Rosalee comes from a long line of educators and has learned how important it is to meet the needs of all children. This past school year, she immersed herself in the E2 Montessori environment learning as an assistant, gradually taking on more responsibilities.  She has a unique way of guiding children to reach their full potential. Rosalee enjoys working with the children and is always coming up with new fun and engaging ways to deliver lessons. Rosalee will be under the Montessori mentorship of Mark and Sarah and will begin her Montessori certification in the summer of 2019.
